Quality Assurance Methodology

Objectives

Quality Assurance is a planned and systematic pattern of all actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that the software developed conforms to established technical standards and requirements. 

SVT has an exhaustive Quality Assurance Plan, which can be implemented for every project. Our Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) contains a checklist for activities that have to be carried out to assure the quality of the project.

Quality Assurance Organizational Structure 

A Quality representative is assigned to the project from the project proposal stage onwards.

The Quality representative reports to the Quality Manager and not to the Project Manager. This representative is involved in all the functions of the project like technical reviews, change management, problem tracking, etc.

The Quality representative is responsible for interacting with the team members to implement the quality procedures.

Performance Measures
Performance measures provide management with means of evaluating actual performance of the quality of the function against the defined business and customer needs.

Front office quantitative analyst 
In trading and sales operations, quantitative analysts work to determine prices, manage risk, and identify profitable opportunities. Historically this was a distinct activity from trading but the boundary between a desk quantitative analyst and a quantitative trader is increasingly blurred, and it is now difficult to enter trading as a profession without at least some quantitative analysis education. In the field of algorithmic trading it has reached the point where there is little meaningful difference. Front office work favours a higher speed to quality ratio, with a greater emphasis on solutions to specific problems than detailed modelling. Quantitative Investment Management
Quantitative analysis is used extensively by asset managers. Some, such as AQR or Barclays, rely almost exclusively on quantitative strategies while others, such as Pimco, Blackrock or Citadel use a mix of quantitative and fundamental methods. Virtually all large asset managers and hedge funds rely to some degree on quantitative methods. SVT experts are well versed in all quantitative methods.

Library quantitative analysis
Major firms invest large sums in an attempt to produce standard methods of evaluating prices and risk. These differ from front office tools in that Excel is very rare, with most development being in C++, though Java and C# are sometimes used in non-performance critical tasks. LQs spend more time modelling ensuring the analytics are both efficient and correct, though there is tension between LQs and FOQs on the validity of their results. LQs are required to understand techniques such as Monte Carlo methods and finite difference methods, as well as the nature of the products being modelled. We have a great team of LQs available for contract assignments or full time hires.

Algorithmic trading quantitative analyst
Often the highest paid paid form of Quant, ATQs make use of methods taken from signal processing, game theory, gambling Kelly criterion, market microstructure, econometrics, and time series analysis. Algorithmic trading includes statistical arbitrage, but includes techniques largely based upon speed of response, to the extent that some ATQs modify hardware and Linux kernels to achieve ultra low latency. Application Management

Overview 

All projects adhere to SVT Quality Management System (QMS). In situations where the customer’s procedures are required to be followed, the organizations process is tailored to evolve project-specific processes that conform to the mandatory practices and information capture requirements of QMS.

The project execution methodology will be documented in the Project Management Plan. A copy of this plan is sent to the customer as a contractual deliverable, if requested. The customer is however, always informed about the planned effort, schedule, cost deliverables and payment milestones based on the original plan and any subsequent revision. The contracts for projects vary from time and material or fixed price or multiple fixed-price basis. The reporting and review procedures on projects are based on guidelines for project

tracking as given in the Project Management Process Overview document in the QMS. The actual effort will be captured on-line for time and material contracts using customer’s templates wherever applicable.

The project file shall be used as an important monitoring tool for all projects to be executed by SVT. The Project Manager will open the project file before the project execution phase begins.

Project Management Plan

After the User Requirements stage, the project plans will be reviewed by the Project Manager to incorporate suggestions or revisions. If any of the plans revised, they will be sent to the customer for his comments, and if necessary, his approval. This ensures that all changes to the plans will be managed by assessing their impact on schedules, resources and budgets. This is in the best interest of good communication, to ensure that there are no surprises as a result of drifting requirements.

During each project review, all project plans will be re-evaluated to see if they need any modifications or updates. Necessary modifications will be made and update will be made and sent to the customer for his comments/approval. SVT project Manager will provide the latest copy of each plan to the customer’s project representative whenever there is a baseline version.

Imaging and Document Management
